Series...Blog about the book: Lost Women of the Bible -by Carolyn Custis James
A few nights ago, I was feeling quite ill, so I decided it was perhaps tiredness and it will go away if I just rest. I was thinking “Ok a little TV would not be too bad”. I chanced upon a movie entitled “ The Prince and Me”. Yes, I admit I am a lover of happy endings much like... “and they lived happily ever after” . And so I found myself sitting comfortably on the TV couch. The story was that of young love between a prince and you guess it right, a commoner! The plot of this movie has similarities but not exactly like the Prince Edward and Wallis Simpson love story. Funny that Edward is the name of the prince in this movie. Paige Morgan was a farm girl who had aspirations bigger than her hometown Madison city. She aspires to become a doctor who will bring medical aid to disadvantaged countries . She is quite goal-focused and determined that nothing should get in the way of her ambitions. Not even marriage.
Their relationship pushed each other’s boundaries. At one point, the Queen mother was having a tete-a-tete with her future daughter-in-law. She delivered a realistic point when she said to Paige “Being a royal is more than being wealthy and famous .You are going to be the future queen and Paige Morgan no longer exists.” Talk about being lost. Paige thought this through long and hard. She made a decision to make a personal stand, to recover her dreams and aspirations. She refused to be lost and left the luxury and comfort of being the future queen and went on to pursue her purpose. She is a real ezer.
Much like Queen Esther. She dared risk her wealth, position and her own life to save the Jewish people from total genocide. I have the impression that her husband King Xerxes, for all his wealth and power, was a simple-minded fool. He had this group of selfish, dishonest group of advisers who only think of their own skin, never mind the damage and destruction that befalls the people they rule over. The only time Xerxes displayed wisdom was when he heeded the advice of Esther. Definitely, God’s finger is 'spot on' in this momentous event. "For such a time as this" was the moment that proved Esther's courageous plan which resulted in saving the lives of her people at the risk of her own. Esther and her uncle Mordecai succeeded through the prayers of their people. God gave them victory in the face of overwhelming odds!
God has a calling for the other “half of the Bride”. It will not be 100% Kingdom building without the 50% - which is us, women.!
