Is. 58:8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward.
Sometimes we take healing prayers for granted. It doesn't have to be so. Isaiah's writings are very old yet so relevant to the present day post-modern Christians. This verse started so powerfully with the words...Then shall thy light break forth as the morning...
The very concept of breaking forth is quite explosive! It is not merely there, existing quietly but actually "breaking forth" -pushing the light forcefully. And if we give any thought to the process of how morning comes about - it is mind-blowing. This explosive realization that we need to be right with God cannot be ignored. The Lord knows that the enemy lulls us into passive inactivity that He sometimes have to jar us into a state of conviction. Break forth!
The Hebrew for light states “luminous” or brilliant light and the idea of happiness. The Hebrew for health references “being restored to soundness, wholeness.” Righteousness references moral cleanliness. (notes)
Break forth - It shall not only appear, but will overcome everything (and that includes illnesses, diseases,..) notwithstanding all difficulties, against all odds.!
The Lord is saying that when you repent and turn to Him with all your heart, which will be reflected in how you live according to His word, you will experience the greatest happiness and immediate spiritual healing and cleansing.(notes) We must break forth with renewed strength and pure righteousness. We can do so only with the Power from on High.
If we want to be blessed, we have to place our attention and energy on other people, not on ourselves. When we pray and care for the sick and the hurting , then we ourselves will be healed. That is so opposite to what the world teaches: "Me first", "If I don't look out for me, who else will?" (notes)
So when we're oppressed by sin, guilt or diseases, we need to be prompt in obeying the Holy Spirit who will convict us and bring all sin into our awareness. Righteousness follows repentance. And the Glory of the Lord will be our reward.
Break forth!
