a sane estimate

and borrowed this again....thanks to an unamed author

..it is the awareness of both our value to God and our moral weaknesses which we share with all humanity that enables us to have a realistic opinion of ourselves. We don’t need to put ourselves down! It is dishonouring to God to denigrate what He has made or gifts He has given us. At the same time we cannot think of ourselves as more important or better than others. Pauls says “ I tell each of you not to think you are better than you really are, use good sense and measure yourself by the amount of faith God has given you (Romans 12:3). J.B.Phillips translate this verse as “have a sane estimate of your capabilities.” The Living Bible says, “be honest in your estimate of yourselves.” After all God designed the human body so that we can neither pat our own back nor kick ourselves too easily. We also need to recognize and develop for His Glory the gifts God has given to each of us. (un-named author, emphasis mine)

apologies, I am having a writer's block now but soon I'll recover..For the next series I will be writing about past events in my life that are significant to this day both sad (like my mom's death in 2006 ) and happy (our holidays in Hawaii, China, US, Japan, Philippines).
I knew I had a gap in my postings since I was so busy with my pre-operative preparations, I will not be able to touch the keyboard for a bit (I will be in a sling post-operative) but I will be back!
again, a million thanks to both authors,
Purplette

Hi Tita Purplette, how's the recovery? Feeling better?

Thanks for your thoughts...always a pleasure to read. Your blogs speak wisdom with great gentleness. I tend to get really hotheaded with mine. If both of us become famous writers, you'll be known for your calm rationality, while I'll get roasted by critics for empty bombast...

Hope you'll have time to read (and comment) my blog; "The God Delusion". I'm very passionate about these issues, and I love the fact that Christianity need not cower from intellectual scrutiny, for on the whole, the Christian faith IS a reasonable thing, and can be reasonably defended.

I think there is a great need (or at least a place) in this world for obstreperous Christians; those who will resist control loudly. That is not my intention. Actually, my blog is almost purely self-serving. It is simply an effort to grasp and organize these issues for myself - within a comprehensive framework... and in the process hopefully offer some insights for the general inquirer.

Over the last few years, I feel like this has been the inertia of my life, so I'm just riding the passion as long as it lasts... But my response is in no way a brave or complete defense... well, just have a read anyway...when you can.

See you... hope we can catch up soon over a good film or coffee (instant is fine).
