Today I encountered the book of Lamentations chapter 3 and it says:
25-27God proves to be good to the man who passionately waits,
to the woman who diligently seeks.
It's a good thing to quietly hope,
quietly hope for help from God.
It's a good thing when you're young
to stick it out through the hard times.
28-30When life is heavy and hard to take,
go off by yourself. Enter the silence.
Bow in prayer. Don't ask questions:
Wait for hope to appear.
Don't run from trouble. Take it full-face.
The "worst" is never the worst.
31-33Why? Because the Master won't ever
walk out and fail to return.
If he works severely, he also works tenderly.
His stockpiles of loyal love are immense.
...and it struck me what is quiet hope? what defines the peace that hope brings?when we enter the silence of prayer and quiet time, we invoke this quiet hope. Indescribable immutable and inevitable Hope, as only the Father can impart.
The above verses teaches patience to man and diligence to women, I wonder why? Perhaps because men needed to be patient to be faithful to God's words and women are so easily distracted, so fickle, that we need the stability of diligence. It's a good thing to quietly hope...
Verse 30 goes on to say "When life is heavy and hard to take, go off by yourself" we do have a chance and a choice to say NO to the constant demands of this world! As a mother of 3 (1 adult and 2 teenaged) boys, I do get weary from the responsibilities of being a parent. I frequently get distressed. Thank God, my husband has the energy and resistance of a rhinocerus! A godly husband who completes where I left off... Wait for hope to appear..
I'm truly grateful that He is my God and He is not just any God! What the verse says "If he works severely, he also works tenderly", that is, there is a balance to everything in this world...and I never have to worry that my world will fall apart because I am His child and ...His stockpiles of loyal love are immense...Great is His Faithfulness!!!
