“The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under his feet.” James Oppenheim
Well, I‘ve just been to see a podiatry clinic and decide if I should give up the fight over a long history of painful and swollen soles, after x-rays and ultrasound have been done, the verdict is “wearing too narrow shoes for too long”. After hearing that, I can relate to the quote by Oppenheim, I have been seeking short-lived happiness in matching shoes, bags and accessories and refusing to seek wisdom and good sense.
She said “choose your shoes wisely” which reminded me of a scene in a movie when Indiana Jones encountered the last Knight to ask what cup Jesus drank from during the Last Supper and he answered “choose wisely…”
Wisdom is the footwear each of us needs to run the race God has set before us. Wisdom will help us in our journey.
Proverbs 3:21-23 reveals:
"My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble."
Sound judgment and discernment, yes. Wisdom.
I saw this quote in the internet:
The most important prayer is that the most important person in the universe do the most important act in the universe. That’s why Jesus put this request at the beginning of the Lord’s prayer: “Hallowed be your name.”
blessings and prosperity be yours. (Psalm 128)
